چکیده

Recent multidimensional hydrodynamic simulations have demonstrated the importance of hydrodynamic motions in the convective boundary and radiative regions of stars to transport of energy, momentum, and composition. The impact of these processes increases with stellar mass. Stellar models which approximate this physics have been tested on several classes of observational problems. In this paper we examine the implications of the improved treatment on supernova progenitors. The improved models predict substantially different interior structures. We present pre-supernova conditions and simple explosion calculations from stellar models with and without the improved mixing treatment at 23 M⊙. The results differ substantially. The Progenitors of Core - Collapse Supernovae

We present maps of the nature of single star progenitors of supernovae and their remnants in mass and metallicity space. We find our results are similar to others but we have gone further in varying the amount of mixing and using various mass-loss schemes to see how the maps change. We find that extra-mixing, in the form of convective overshooting, moves boundaries such as the minimum mass for ...

Progenitor mass of the type IIP supernova 2005 cs

Context. The progenitor mass of type IIP supernova can be determined from either hydrodynamic modeling of the event or pre-explosion observations. Aims. To compare these approaches, we determine parameters of the sub-luminous supernova 2005cs and estimate its progenitor mass. Methods. We compute the hydrodynamic models of the supernova to describe its light curves and expansion velocity data. R...

Neutrino signature of supernova hydrodynamical instabilities in three dimensions.

The first full-scale three-dimensional core-collapse supernova (SN) simulations with sophisticated neutrino transport show pronounced effects of the standing accretion shock instability (SASI) for two high-mass progenitors (20 and 27 M([Symbol: see text])). In a low-mass progenitor (11.2 M([Symbol: see text])), large-scale convection is the dominant nonradial hydrodynamic instability in the pos...

The Effect of Asymmetric Water Entry on the Hydrodynamic Impact

The effect of the asymmetric water entry over a submerged part of a ship on the hydrodynamic impact is investigated numerically. A wedge body is considered to study and the problem is assumed to be two-dimensional. The Results of symmetric and asymmetric impacts are compared together. The effect is found significant in the numerical simulation. The maximum hydrodynamic pressure at a heel angle ...

The neutrino-heating mechanism remains a viable possibility for the cause of the explosion in a wide mass range of supernova progenitors. This is demonstrated by recent two-dimensional hydrodynamic simulations with detailed, energy-dependent neutrino transport. Neutrino-driven explosions were not only found for stars in the 8–10M⊙ range with ONeMg cores and in case of the iron core collapse of ...
